Carmona for Arizona airs first TV ad
The Carmona for Arizona campaign will start running its first ad Wednesday. The thirty-second spot will air statewide and highlights Dr. Richard Carmona's unique story — from growing up poor to becoming a Special Forces soldier, trauma surgeon, deputy sheriff and the 17th Surgeon General of the United States.
Carmona was awarded two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts for his service in Vietnam as a medic and weapons specialist. He went to college and medical school on the GI Bill and started the first trauma center in Southern Arizona. Carmona also served as a deputy sheriff and SWAT team leader in Pima County, where he received the national Top Cop award and was named SWAT officer of the year.
"Problem Solving" is narrated by Gary Clark, a fellow Special Forces veteran who trained with Carmona before they both served in Vietnam.
